Trip gone wrong, gone worse, worth it.
That's pretty much how our planned Manila tour went, so thank you for reading and hope you enjoyed.
I'm kidding, here's what happened haha...
Two of my college blokes and I decided to explore the Philippines' capital city of Manila for the sake of not to be strangers in our own land, this is actually our first time to walk around the streets of Manila just out of curiosity and to our own liking, no grades, no schoolwork, no projects, just strolling with our backpacks and knowing facts about the city.
So, as we were walking around from our homes we decided to check on the place where we can gather information and discover little known facts about the Philippines and its history and only one place popped up in our minds....
The National museum |
This might sound a boring trip to you, it was for me too at least because I'm more of a adventure type of a traveler I don't fancy much of the sightseeing part but don't get me wrong, I did discover a lot of things inside historically and culturally, by paying 150php for the entrance fee but they charge 50php for students. From the ancient scripts or the Alibata which I think will be a nice tattoo but no, I'm not going to have one in my lifetime. It was really amazing to see how the Philippines were millions of years ago and the artistry of our ancestors, they were able to craft weapons, garments, kitchenware and even burial jars.
Here's a view of the awesome Filipino ancient script

There are actually two national museum buildings, one has artifacts and the other had the artworks.
If you're a fan of these things, I highly recommend to make a stop in the National museum when in Manila.
After our national museum trip we decided to have lunch in Intramuros, another stop that WAS in our itinerary and we just walked around the walls of the walled city.
The next stop was supposed to be chinatown in Binondo, Manila but upon leaving Intramuros, Manila a bus going to Tagaytay out of nowhere stopped in front of us and gathering passengers. We were just teasing and daring ourselves in a jokingly manner to jump on the bus and go to Tagaytay IN OUR FREAKING SHIRTS AND SHORTS with no warmers and unsure sense of direction and worst of all, not enough money at first, we were all hesitant as we were only joking around but somehow, our instinct said that our trip was actually intended to end up in Tagaytay so with no hesitation we took the ride and laughing our butts off on our way to what might be the silliest thing we've done in months.
it was a two and a half drive from Lawton(yes, there are buses there going to Tagaytay highlands) but it wasn't the same route that my friend remembered but still we were at ease because we know we are still headed to Tagaytay, and we arrived at 7:30pm took a jeepney ride going to People's park because my friend AGAIN thought he knew the place but little did we know.....
Yes we got lost, in the middle of a hilltop road going to the peak of Tagaytay pitch black, no street lights, few cars and jeepneys passing by and what's worst is that jeepney trips end at 8pm, it looked like a horror scene for a few minutes until a jeepney came and fortunately gave us a ride going back to the vicinity(whew!, although that one is what we consider as the best part of our trip(masochist eh?) but yeah, that few minutes was the best few minutes of our trip for we were laughing like hell at the same time getting nervous because we could have been camping and spending the night in the middle of nowhere.
the sad part, we had to pay 300 for the jeepney ride because he was supposed to be in his last trip but the driver was nice to drive for us all the way to why we were in Tagaytay in the first place.
Yes! it's the mighty Bulalo (Beef Marrow stew with vegetables) it was very good that we forgot that we were at the brink of spending the night at the road, but it was all worth it, the whole trip was fun and after we devour the Bulalo, we rest for a while and to our delight we saw a bus headed to Lawton and yes, we survived a so unplanned adventure.
